Lowell Catholic High School is seeking a reliable and motivated Night Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position supports daily operations, evening events, athletics, and seasonal facility needs throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities - Daily & Evening Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize the cafeteria nightly, including floors, tables, and service areas
- Clean and maintain bathrooms in two school buildings
- Clean and maintain the auditorium in one building
- Remove trash and recycling from each classroom and common area daily
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the campus
- Set up, monitor, and break down spaces for nighttime school events
- Occasionally assist with after-school athletic van runs
- Perform routine building checks and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Secure buildings at the end of the shift
Seasonal Responsibilities
- Summer work may include:
- Stripping and waxing classroom floors
- Carpet cleaning
- Deep cleaning of school facilities
- Summer hours may vary based on the needs of the school
- Winter work may include:
- Snow shoveling
- Ice melt application
- Assisting with maintaining safe walkways and entrances
Additional Expectations
- Occasional weekend coverage for school events may be required
- Employee may be asked to assist with tasks outside the normal scope of work as needed to support school operations
- Flexibility and willingness to assist where needed are essential
Functional and Environmental Requirements
- Agility: Must be able to maneuver in tight, confined, or elevated spaces.
- Hand-Eye Coordination: Requires the ability to operate power tools, floor buffers, lawnmowers, and snow blowers.
- Environmental Factors: Must be able to work in varying conditions, including extreme heat, cold, dust, odors, and in the presence of cleaning chemicals.
Physical Effort and Lifting
- Lifting Capacity: must have the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing 50 to 100 pounds on a regular basis.
- Stamina: Custodians must be able to stand and walk for an entire shift.
- Movement: Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching is required.
- Climbing: Ability to climb ladders and stairs is frequently required.
Qualifications
- Custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Physically able to perform job duties, including lifting, standing, and outdoor work
