Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates to ensure health stability.
- Support medication administration under supervision or according to facility protocols to ensure proper timing and dosage.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to promote mental well-being and reduce feelings of isolation or loneliness.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding to meet nutritional needs while respecting dietary restrictions.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control standards.
- Document care activities accurately using electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate effectively with healthcare teams about resident status or changes.
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia or Alzheimer’s care, utilizing behavior management techniques to promote safety and comfort.
- Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts or wheelchairs safely during transfers and mobility assistance.
- Drive residents when necessary for appointments or community outings, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
Experience
- Prior experience in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care is highly valued.
- Knowledge of caring for individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
- Experience with medication administration, vital signs monitoring, and emergency response procedures such as first aid is preferred.
- Familiarity with EMR systems for documentation ensures accurate record keeping and effective communication within healthcare teams.
- Demonstrated ability to handle caregiving responsibilities with compassion, patience, and professionalism is essential.
- Long-term care experience or working in senior care environments will help you excel in this role.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting or transferring residents safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts is important.
