Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging training tailored to individual skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers
- Lead group training sessions for swim teams or, fostering teamwork and sportsmanship
- Ensure all participants adhere to behavior and safety protocols, including proper use of lifesaving equipment and emergency procedures
- Monitor swimmers’ progress, provide constructive feedback, and adjust training plans accordingly
- Maintain a safe environment by supervising pool areas, performing regular safety checks, and operating AED (Automated External Defibrillator) devices when necessary
- Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, head coach and clients about progress, safety guidelines, and upcoming events
Skills
- Proven experience as a swim coach with current certification in first aid, CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), and AED operation
- Obtain USA Swimming Coaching certifications (within 15 days of hire), including a background check
- Strong swimming skills with the ability to teach various strokes and water safety techniques
- Background in sports-specific training instruction
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings with excellent behavior management skills
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams confidently while fostering a positive atmosphere for athletes of all ages
- Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Knowledge of physical education teaching methods and experience working with students in health club or gym environment
- Ability to implement coaching strategies that promote skill development, confidence-building, and fun in the water
