Report to: Campus Principal or Secretary
Job Goal:
To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.
- Reports to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior.
- Be a positive role model for students, and support the mission of the school district.
- Present subject matter according to lesson plans and/or instructions left by the absent teacher.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, parents, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Maintains a neat and orderly classroom. Straightens chairs, tables, etc.
- Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
- Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom.
- Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
- Knows school procedures and regulations
- Leave detailed notes for the day's activities including classroom/individual behavioral incidents, progress in completing the lesson, and attendance notes for the absent teacher.
- Performs other related duties as directed by principal
Note: complaints made by a school principal about a subsitute teacher may result in the removal of the substitute from the Substitute List.
