What are the responsibilities and job description for the Wash/Pack Assistant Manager position at Love is Love Cooperative Farm?
Job Summary & Expectations:
The assistant wash/pack manager supports the wash/pack manager(s), and can run the wash/pack facility. This includes accurately packing and labeling storage, CSA, and wholesale crops. Following, inspecting, and enforcing food safety policies especially those outlined in our Food Safety Plan. The Assistant Wash/Pack Manager needs to work quickly and efficiently to ensure produce is being cleaned, cooled, and packed in a timely manner. They must maintain a clean and organized work space.
Wash/pack managers assist with the management of all CSA inventory and oversee the CSA packing from harvest to truck.
Our ideal candidate is good at problem solving, self-motivated, and personable. They work well in a fast paced environment, anticipate the next task, and can delegate to others. The wash/pack is the place that prepares our products for our customers. It is important that we’re sending out the best, and fulfilling orders and expectations. Double checking your work and others and communicating to the harvest team and sales team when orders are short is essential.
When there is no work in the wash/pack, the wash/pack assistant manager will fold into other aspects of the farm.
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds repeatedly
- Standing, walking, lifting, or bending for extended periods of time (6-9 hours)
- Good communication & interpersonal skills, including listening and asking clarifying questions
- Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
- Willingness to learn and be flexible
- Attention to detail
All employees are asked to:
- Be punctual, and be ready to work at designated time
- Have reliable transportation
- Bring a water bottle, lunch, and appropriate clothing for the weather and task
- Keep track of your hours using the TimeWorks Plus Employee App
- Report unusual or unsafe conditions
- Telephone or text if you are unable to make it to work or will be tardy (point of contact for phone is Monica Ponce)
- Give as much advance notice as possible when making schedule requests (at least two weeks is preferred)
- Attend monthly all-staff meetings
- Learn and share farm related knowledge and information, especially SOP’s, with other staff
- Be considerate and respectful of one another
- Help with weekly chores to maintain common areas (garage, bathroom, break room, offices and carport)
- Work twice annual plant sales on Saturdays
Education and Experience:
Previous professional farm or commercial kitchen experience is preferred. We are looking for team members who bring a professional attitude
