The Invitation

We are praying for a Store Manager and an Assistant Manager who sense God may be calling them into this ministry. These are roles for people whose leadership and work flow from a living relationship with Jesus Christ — people who see a thrift store register, a volunteer schedule, and a stockroom not as ordinary tasks but as opportunities for the Kingdom to break in.

Together, these two roles lead the day-to-day rhythms of the Love INC Thrift Store in Waynesboro — stewarding resources with integrity, shepherding staff and volunteers, and welcoming every customer as a neighbor deeply loved by God. Above all, you will help create a store environment that reflects the character of Christ: ordered, hospitable, dignifying, and mission-driven.

Store Manager

The Store Manager leads day-to-day operations of the store, shepherding staff and volunteers, stewarding resources with integrity, and setting the tone for hospitality on the sales floor.

What You'll Do

Store Operations & Stewardship

• Oversee the sales floor and Standard Operating Procedures from start to finish
• Open and close the store as scheduled
• Partner with the Donation Center Supervisor to ensure store inventory
• Oversee the daily cash drawer count, prepare it for next use, and make daily deposits to Love INC's bank
• Create, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Uphold workplace health and safety standards
• Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of ministry information
• Manage the existing budget and create the budget for the next fiscal year

Walking With Volunteers

• Train, schedule, and supervise Thrift Store Volunteers, Thrift Store Staff, and Community Service Volunteers
• Facilitate good communication among the management team, staff, and volunteers
• Foster and nurture relationships that ensure a positive volunteer and staff experience
• Oversee the volunteer check-in and check-out process
• Create and maintain a system of showing appreciation to volunteers
• Empower volunteers to use their gifts in meaningful ministry through Love INC and their local church

Hospitality & Witness

• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, creating an atmosphere of hospitality, dignity, and welcome
• Model excellent customer service and train staff and volunteers in customer engagement
• Share the mission and ministry of Love INC with customers and community members as the Lord opens doors

Team Life & Leadership

• Attend staff meetings as requested by the Executive Director
• Implement existing and new Standard Operating Procedures
• Provide a written bi-monthly board report to the Executive Director

Qualifications

• Committed follower of Jesus Christ
• Prior retail or management experience preferred
• Strong leadership, relational, and communication skills
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage budgets and multiple responsibilities
• Comfortable learning and using digital systems
• Able to work full-time, on-site in Waynesboro, VA

Assistant Manager

The Assistant Manager partners closely with the Store Manager to run the daily rhythms of the store — supporting staff and volunteers and helping steward resources with integrity.

What You'll DoStore Operations & Stewardship

• Support the Store Manager in overseeing the sales floor and Standard Operating Procedures from start to finish
• Help open and close the store as scheduled
• Partner with the Donation Center Supervisor to help ensure store inventory
• Help count the daily cash drawer, prepare it for next use, and assist with daily deposits to Love INC's bank
• Help create, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Support the Store Manager in upholding workplace health and safety standards
• Maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of ministry information
• Help manage the existing budget and assist in creating the budget for the next fiscal year alongside the Store Manager

Walking With Volunteers

• Support the Store Manager in training, scheduling, and supervising Thrift Store Volunteers, Thrift Store Staff, and Community Service Volunteers
• Facilitate good communication with the Store Manager, staff, and volunteers
• Foster and nurture relationships that ensure a positive volunteer and staff experience
• Help with the volunteer check-in and check-out process
• Help maintain a system of showing appreciation to volunteers
• Empower volunteers to use their gifts in meaningful ministry through Love INC and their local church

• Retail experience preferred; supervisory experience a plus
• Strong relational and communication skills
• Organized and able to manage multiple responsibilities
• Comfortable learning and using digital systems
• Able to work full-time, on-site in Waynesboro, VA
