Job Summary
CBL Enterprises is seeking a dedicated and practicing Catholic Religious Education Coordinator to lead and manage the Catholic Religious Education (RE) Program at Los Angeles Air Force Base. This position supports military families and youth by providing sacramental preparation, religious instruction, and volunteer coordination in accordance with the Archdiocese for the Military Services (AMS).
This role requires strong faith leadership, organization, and administrative skills within a structured military chapel environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach Catholic Religious Education classes for children ages preschool through 12th grade
- Provide catechesis for First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and parent sessions
- Coordinate weekly Sunday RE classes (approx. 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM)
- Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers
- Maintain enrollment, attendance, and program records
- Develop annual RE calendar and program budget
- Coordinate with Catholic Priest and Chapel staff
- Co-lead Vacation Bible School (VBS) annually
- Oversee Jr./Sr. High Youth Ministry Program
- Submit quarterly program reports
Qualifications
- Confirmed Roman Catholic in good standing
- Active participation in Catholic faith community
- Minimum 3 years experience in Catholic religious education (CCD, parish, or chapel setting)
- Experience working with youth and sacramental preparation
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Proficient in basic computer and word processing
- Must pass federal background investigation
- Must complete Archdiocese Safe Environment Training
- High School Diploma or GED (Bachelor’s preferred)
- Must be at least 18 years of age
Security Requirements
- Must be able to obtain and maintain base access
- Must pass National Agency Check (NAC)
- Background check required due to working with minors
Work Environment
This position operates within a military chapel setting. Professional dress and conduct consistent with Catholic liturgical standards are required.
