About the Position
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and organized Medical Biller & Coder to join our team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of medical billing and coding experience, a strong understanding of healthcare insurance processes, and the ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish.
Responsibilities
- Review, assign, and submit accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes.
- Process and submit medical claims to commercial insurance companies and government payers.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits.
- Follow up on unpaid, denied, and rejected claims and resolve billing issues.
- Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and process insurance payments and adjustments.
- Submit corrected claims, appeals, and reconsiderations as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient billing records and documentation.
- Communicate with insurance representatives and patients regarding billing questions.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and applicable billing guidelines.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of professional medical billing and coding experience (Required).
- Fluent in English and Spanish (Required).
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
- Experience with insurance claims, payment posting, denials, and appeals.
- Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a healthcare team.
Preferred: Experience in a family medicine or primary care clinic and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and practice management systems.
