Driver Job Description:

We’re looking to hire full-time drivers that possess a friendly demeanor who enjoys driving and helping people.

Louisville Wheels Transportation provides wheelchair accessible non-emergency transportation to medical appointments. Located in Louisville, Ky. we serve communities in Bullitt, Shelby, Spencer, Oldham, Henry and Trimble counties.

This is a rewarding position for mature Americans that have had careers in community-service and desire to remain physically active and personally engaged with people in the community transporting passengers in a safe and professional manner, in accordance with company policy and local, county, state and federal rules and regulations. Louisville Wheels Transportation provides transportation through Medicare and Medicaid Funding. Our employees are front line workers. We prefer our potential employees to be fully vaccinated. Candidates must be able to work shifts or flexible work schedules as needed, including some weekends and holidays based on business needs.

You do not need previous experience driving a bus. Get paid while you train!

Minimum Qualifications:

• 21 years of age
• High school graduate or equivalent
• Current valid Driver’s License
• Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screen
• Ability to work with clients that are elderly and/or disabled
• Must possess a professional and positive demeanor

Job Functions and Responsibilities:

• Ability to work with clients that are elderly and/or disabled *
• Operates a vehicle to transport elderly and disabled passengers.*
• Safely transports passengers in wheelchairs.*
• Assists passengers in boarding and disembarking.*
• Establishes an efficient route for transportation.*
• Maintains radio contact; reports information on service according to policy.*
• Reports accidents, injuries, violations, and other problems.*
• Reports mechanical conditions that require repair to the Dispatcher.*
• Cleans and inspects vehicle daily. Performs pre‑trip inspection of vehicles.*
• Collects and remits passenger donations and/or fares.*
• Rural County Driver: Works with the Site Manager, Louisville Scheduler, broker, etc. to coordinate scheduling trips and submits all paperwork according to policy. *
• Fosters and promotes good relationships and customer service throughout the organization.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Job involves regular climbing in and out of vehicles, assisting passengers on and off vehicles, possibly lifting a five-pound step box, pushing a client in a wheelchair, and taking a wheelchair passenger up and down a maximum of three steps. Job requires stooping and bending, assuming awkward positions, and sitting for long periods of time. Driver will be subject to periodic drug testing. Job requires some judgment in applying well-established procedures and methods. Job requires completing driver's written logs and vouchers, routing oneself from point A to point B utilizing GPS, and recording trip ticket/donation money received from passengers. Physical and mental requirements may change with reasonable accommodation.

Pay/Benefits:

• $16.00 per hour. On the job training program.
