What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Support Specialist position at Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District?
This position will work at all MSD facilities that are managed by the MSD Facilities Department.
Performs a variety of routine custodial and general maintenance duties in and around MSD's Facilities. Monitors in-house cleaning contractors. Distributes and stocks inventory and supplies. Performs messenger/delivery services for the Executive Director and staff. Assists with the transportation and setup of equipment and materials for MSD internal and external events. Performs other duties as assigned.Cleans and maintains all breakrooms and restrooms. Performs lobby, corridor, and conference room maintenance. Cleans common area such as kitchens, kitchenettes, patio areas, and exercise rooms for Main Office, CMF, and remote locations as required. Sweeps and damp mops stairwell and landing areas. Washes, dusts, and polishes building interior walls, windows, doors, and fixtures using appropriate methods. Spot cleans carpet and flooring as necessary for general upkeep. Dusts, polishes and waxes furniture. Carries out routine general maintenance tasks such as plunging toilets, unclogging drains, fixing small leaks, and cleaning up waste. Performs continuous touch point cleaning daily to reduce the spread of germs and bacteria. Stocks supplies in breakrooms, restrooms, and general assembly rooms twice daily. Monitors coffee and condiments service and supplies. Monitors building exterior and landscaping for proper maintenance. Operates "Billy Goat" vacuum to pick up trash and debris as necessary. Maintains trash receptacles and containers. Empties refuse and returns to proper storage and usages areas. Moves, assembles, and sets up furniture. Performs minor repairs such as installing/removing keyboard trays, shelving, hanging pictures, and white boards. Performs moderate hauling and lifting of boxed copy paper, materials, and supplies. Properly collects and disposes of recycled material. Loads/unloads equipment, materials, and supplies. Cleans and maintains small powered equipment, tools, and parts. Cleans and maintains assigned and pool vehicles. Transports vehicles for maintenance, cleaning, and gas as required. Performs daily inspection of work performed by in-house cleaning services, noting deficiencies and reporting to Facilities Supervisor. Performs lighting inspections throughout buildings, changes small lamplights, and reports any lighting fixture outages to appropriate personnel. Responds to spills and other cleaning emergencies. Performs walk around inspections, ensuring building is safe for occupants if unexpected incidents arise like slippery floors or broken glass. Performs set-up and breakdown conference rooms for meetings. Delivers bank deposits daily to several banks. Performs courier runs as directed by the executive staff. Assists in all aspects of special events at all locations including transportation and setup of equipment and materials for internal and external meetings, conferences, and community engagement events. Responds during inclement weather and rain events. Runs snow removal equipment to clear sidewalks and pathways. Monitors flood pumping station during rain events. Serves on the Emergency Response Team (ERT). Assists the Facilities, Safety and Security Director as required.

Knowledge of custodial techniques and general maintenance practices; ability to properly use basic hand tools; ability to operate standard custodial equipment such as vacuum, floor buffer and shampooer; ability to work under adverse working conditions such as inclement weather; ability to be courteous and helpful under pressure; ability to work effectively under heavy unpredictable surges in workload.
High School Diploma or GED; six or more months of custodial and/or general maintenance experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have safe work and driving habits.This position is considered safety-sensitive and is subject to random drug testing.
