Position Summary
The Production Support Specialist plays a key role in supporting daily production operations within the printing department. This position is responsible for preparing materials and equipment for flexographic and digital printing processes, assisting press operators, and supporting downstream operations including finishing and shipping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Printing & Production Support
- Mount printing plates accurately and efficiently for flexographic press operations
- Pull and stage raw materials for scheduled production jobs
- Prepare and deliver inks, dies, plates, cylinders, and other production supplies to press
- operators
- Verify job materials against production tickets and specifications
- Assist press operators with setup, changeovers, and cleanup activities
- Maintain organization of printing supplies, tooling, and production areas
Material Handling
- Retrieve and transport rolls, substrates, labels, cartons, and other materials safely
- Monitor inventory levels of inks, plates, dies, and consumables
- Return unused materials to proper storage locations
- Assist with inventory counts and material tracking as needed
Finishing & Shipping Support
- Support finishing operations including slitting, rewinding, inspection, packaging, and
- labeling
- Assist shipping department with packing, staging, and preparing orders for shipment
- Help maintain workflow between production, finishing, and shipping departments
- Ensure completed jobs are properly identified and moved to the next process
Quality & Safety
- Follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements
- Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards
- Assist in identifying quality issues and reporting production concerns
- Follow work instructions, SOPs, and quality standards
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous manufacturing or printing experience preferred
- Flexographic or digital printing experience is a plus
- Ability to read job tickets and follow written instructions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Forklift experience is a plus (if applicable)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to work in a production/manufacturing environment
Preferred Skills
- Basic understanding of printing materials, inks, and dies
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing/production environment with exposure to moving
machinery, inks, adhesives, and varying noise levels. Proper safety equipment and
procedures are required at all times.
