ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Requirements
EDUCATION:
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience
One year of experience in out-patient rehabilitation preferred.
Knowledge
Normal office environment. Some travel within community.
Physical/Mental Demands
Requires sitting and standing associated with a normal office environment. Some bending and stretching required. Manual dexterity using a calculator and computer keyboard. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Demands of occasional kneeling, squatting, and overhead lifting.
Organizational Requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Communicating with patients and scheduling patient appointments as well as confirming future appointments and phone confirmation of next day evals.
- Communicate visit cost to patients and explain as needed patient benefits.
- Collect patient payments and pull visit totals and batch collections at end of the day.
- Communicating with rehabilitation staff and therapist as needed to clarify referral requests and scheduling needs.
- Collect and verify patient demographics and insurance information and pull in-take packets for following day. Scan documents into EMR as needed.
- Assists Rehabilitation Front Office Supervisor in special projects.
- Answer incoming Rehabilitation Department phone calls and check faxes.
- Assist in maintaining goals for quality patient care, patient satisfaction, and treatment compliance through service to patient needs and request in the capacity of the position.
- Manage patient cancelations per department protocol including scheduling from wait list.
- Assist in creating new patient charts.
- Confirm DME proof of delivery and ABN documents.
- Schedule progress notes due.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
Requirements

- Knowledge of computer systems and EMR software.
- Knowledge of phone systems.
- Knowledge of rehabilitation terminology and insurance/payor rules and regulations.
- Knowledge of referral processes and patient eligibility
- Skill in effectively communicating with patients and staff.
- Skill in using a computer system/EMR.
- Skill in accurate documentation of work.
- Ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, providers and staff.
- Ability to communicate clearly in verbal and written form.
- Ability to be a resource to patients and staff.
