This position is located in the Design Section of District 04 and reports to the Surveyor Supervisor. The incumbent serves as the functional supervisor of the District 04 Survey Crew and is responsible for performing land surveying duties using GPS and computer technology. The position requires a current Louisiana Professional Land Surveyor License, knowledge of Louisiana Property Law, participation in required training and continuing education, and the ability to work independently and effectively respond to unforeseen conditions.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Land Surveyor Intern certificate.

Compensation: The following reflects the beginning biweekly salary for each level. A Special Entrance Rate (SER) may apply to qualifying positions.

Depending on level and assignment, Surveyor intern 1 - Surveyor Intern 2 may:
- Conduct roadway, property, drainage, and right-of-way surveys for District 04 projects.
- Prepare right-of-way maps and coordinate survey information with design staff.
- Perform forensic surveys for accident sites, including topographic surveys and right-of-way/property information.
- Train engineering technicians on surveying methods, equipment, software, and legal requirements.
- Assist with other duties as needed, including emergency and disaster response activities.
