The purpose of this position is to provide the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) with a skilled operator capable of performing herbicide application and vegetation management and heavy equipment/tree removal operations in support of roadway and right-of-way maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in mobile equipment operations.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as a Detail to Special Duty or a Probationary appointment requiring 12-24 months on probation.
The selected candidate will be required to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License and Class "A" CDL upon appointment.

Job Duties

- Operates spray trucks and specialized herbicide equipment to control roadside vegetation along highways, bridges, drainage structures, and rights-of-way
- Mixes and applies herbicides at proper rates for targeted vegetation
- Applies chemicals including, but not limited to: Roundup, Garlon 3A/4, 2-4D, MSMA, Hyvar XL, OUST, and others
- Uses backpack and handheld sprayers for precise applications
- Maintains accurate chemical inventory and daily application logs in compliance with DOTD and LDAF requirements
- Performs calibration of spray equipment to ensure proper application rates
- Enters daily work activities into Agile system
