Four years of experience in the operation or maintenance of electronically controlled locks or industrial or heavy mobile equipment.

Job Duties and Other Information
- Supervises and schedules shift work for all the bridge operators in District 03. Supervises and performs quality assurance to make sure that all operators are greasing/oiling/maintaining their bridges in good/clean operating condition. Maintains communication with stake holders to operate the bridges in the most economical and service oriented way. Ensures the least inconvenience to local vehicular and marine traffic under all operating conditions. Trains and certifies new operators for those bridges associated with their position assignment.
- Documents and tracks all work. Accounts for all labor, equipment, and materials associated with each bridge site. Provides logistical support for all bridge operators including transporting documents, supplies, training information and other support functions. Orders and maintains inventory to meet the greasing and oiling needs of the moveable structures including routine office supplies and household goods. Coordinates grease crews several times annually to address those areas of bridges that require specialized equipment and/or additional labor to properly and safely maintain them.
- Instructs and trains operators in the proper procedures and methods according to the DOTD Bridge Operator Handbook. Provides information and training related to the US Coast Guard Permit operational requirements for each bridge. Uses and performs routine maintenance on numbered equipment. Responsible for the proper training of employees in routine maintenance of numbered equipment.
- Conducts annual employee performance measures according to the DOTD performance evaluation system (PES).
- May be required to perform other duties as necessary including, but not limited to emergency disaster support activities.
