Company Description
Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF) is a U.S. Department of Energy designated coalition in the Clean Cities and Communities partnership supported by the Louisiana Department of Conservation and Energy. We work locally to advance domestic, affordable, efficient, and clean transportation fuels and technologies. LCF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit in Baton Rouge currently has one opening for their Summer 2026 Accelerate internship program.
Role Description
This is a part time to full-time hybrid Intern role at LCF for the Summer Semester 2026. The Intern will be based in Baton Rouge, LA but will have the option to work from home a few days a week. Day-to-day tasks will involve supporting clean transportation initiatives, promoting coalition success stories and services, assisting with workshops and events, and contributing to grants and projects.

Overview: Candidates must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree-granting program. The internship will begin on June 1, 2026, and run through August 15, 2026. The interns will have the option to reapply for future Internships. Undergraduate students with relevant skills and extensive experience may be considered, but graduate students are preferred.
Specific Details for Internship in Louisiana:
- The position is for 30-40 hours per week for 10 weeks with the allowance for time for one-week unpaid time off.
- Internship dates: June 1st through August 15, 2026.
- All resumes are due by May 4th, with interviews conducted approximately May 11th – May 22nd. The final selection will be made no later than May 25th.
Compensation:
Undergraduates ($15/hour):
- Working an average of 30 hours per week: $4,500
- Working an average of 40 hours per week: $6,000.
Graduates ($18/hour):
- Working an average of 30 hours per week: $5,400
- Working an average of 40 hours per week: $7,200
Please note that this internship requires the intern to be in the general Baton Rouge area throughout the duration of the position and have access to reliable transportation.
Qualifications: The summer internship position is most applicable to graduate-level students with a passion for clean transportation planning and project implementation. The ideal applicants will be self-starters who work well independently and with a team. Candidates should have excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to handle a hybrid work environment (2 days a week in the Baton Rouge office – at other times working remotely on your own computer).
Software skills desired: Salesforce, Excel, Google Drive, WordPress, Adobe Suite, Square Space, Weebly, and Canva. Familiarity with Zoom, basic video editing, podcasting, and FB and Instagram Live online event production is a plus but not required. Additionally, web design and media skills are a plus.
Responsibilities will include a mixture of the following:
- Project Management: Assist with electric vehicle and alternative fuel outreach and awareness programs. Identify relevant contacts at fleets and municipalities.
- Communications: Work with the communications intern to maintain social media platforms on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. Maintain fresh content on coalition websites.
- Fleet Outreach and Support: Identify relevant contacts at Louisiana businesses for fleet demonstrations and outreach.
- Public Outreach and Events: Assist with planning of outreach and educational events: Support events and communications with webinars, ride and drives, and National Drive Electric Week events, including producing materials, conducting outreach, and helping with event logistics.
- Research and Analysis: Creatively use afdc.energy.gov tools to conduct research and analysis that would communicate the value of alternative fuel vehicles to decision-makers, stakeholders, and the public.
- Attend weekly in-person staff meetings to provide task updates and coordinate with other LCF staff.
- Complete an end-of-term presentation, in line with the Accelerate program.
- Some in-state travel may be required.
*New this year: After a brief training period, summer interns will design their own projects to be completed by the end of the summer term.
Impactful project ideas could include:
Analysis
· Create an online tool for fleet decision makers.
· Map alternative fuel corridor gaps.
· Research industry contact lists for developing new projects or sponsorship.
· Conduct local market research or fleet analysis.
Communications
· Create radio/podcast content.
· Create and promote a local idle reduction campaign using tools provided in IdleBox.
· Collaborate with coalition stakeholders and staff to identify and submit stories for development of video segments.
· Create a press kit and coordinate media visits for an awareness campaign. Promotion of affordable and efficient transportation fuels, energy efficient mobility systems, and other cost-saving technologies and practices, such as reduction of idling, and mode shift strategies.
Operations
· Begin new or build-out existing transportation initiatives
· Build out salesforce and other customer relationship management software
· Develop approaches for improving how coalitions track impact, measure progress towards goals, and communicate successes
· Create standard operating procedures (SOPs) that define processes for ongoing intern projects and activities
About Louisiana Clean Fuels: Louisiana Clean Fuels is a designated coalition in the US Department of Energy's Clean Cities and Communities partnership, headquartered in Baton Rouge. We are a statewide non-profit organization focused on education and project implementation with an office just off the LSU campus.
