Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Procurement Assistant supports Louisiana Bridge Builders (LBB) by assisting procurement activities, maintaining vendor relationships, and ensuring accurate data entry through LBB’s systems. The role also involves preparing comprehensive reports to track procurement performance, monitor supplier activities, and support departmental operations.
LOCATION
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engages with suppliers to negotiate competitive terms and pricing.
- Supports administrative tasks and assists in identifying potential suppliers and vendors.
- Manages purchasing-related administrative duties, ensuring smooth procurement processes, including interactions with LBB’s systems for data entry, tracking, and reporting.
- Assists in contractor selection by gathering procurement specifications and reviewing supplier bids.
- Evaluates, updates, and maintains purchase records, ensuring accuracy and alignment with LBB’s systems.
- Maintains and organizes vendor and supplier databases.
- Oversees and nurtures vendor relationships to ensure strong, reliable partnerships.
- Prepares detailed reports for the department and other stakeholders, drawing from LBB’s systems to support data-driven decisions.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the Procurement Assistant must have a bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, economics, or equivalent field of study, along with 2 years of proven related experience OR a high school diploma, or equivalent, and at least 6 years of proven, related experience. DBE experience within the construction industry is preferred.
