Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

Position Purpose/Summary

The Mechanic II is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy construction equipment and diesel-powered vehicles.

Location

This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on construction equipment

Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on diesel engines and heavy equipment

Repair and replace defective parts, components, and systems

Inspect equipment for safety and operational performance

Troubleshoot engine, transmission, brake, steering, and fuel systems

Maintain accurate service and repair records

Operate diagnostic tools and repair equipment

Respond to field service calls and emergency breakdowns when needed

Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety procedures

Test equipment after repairs to verify proper operation

Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Ability to maintain a current and valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

At a minimum, the Mechanic II must have at least 5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic with knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems with ability to read service manuals. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Must have basic mechanic tools.
