Louisiana Bridge Builders (“LBB”) is designing and building the new I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge in Lake Charles, Louisiana (USA) for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD). LBB will also be responsible for the reconstruction of interstate highway, various structures, ramps, and approaches for a 5.5 mile stretch between I-210 West End and Ryan Street.

POSITION PURPOSE/SUMMARY
The Equipment Superintendent is committed to supporting Louisiana Bridge Builders by overseeing the maintenance, operation, availability, and lifecycle management of all project equipment.
LOCATION
This position is based in Lake Charles, LA.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensures equipment is safe, reliable, cost-effective, and compliant with company policies and regulatory standards. Leads maintenance teams, coordinates repairs, manages budgets, and supports field operations to minimize downtime. Plan, organize, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment. Ensure equipment availability to support project schedules and operational needs. Manage equipment inspections, repairs, rebuilds, and replacements. Develop and monitor maintenance schedules and asset tracking systems. Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies. Investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions. Manage equipment inventory, parts, tools, and shop facilities. Coordinate with project managers, operations, and vendors. Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports, and performance metrics. Provide training and guidance to equipment operators and maintenance staff. Crane, rigging, and lifting operations oversight. Coordinate the mobilization and demobilization of cranes in alignment with project schedules, site logistics, and construction sequencing. Prepare, review, validate, and approve rigging plans and lifting plans for all critical, complex, and non-routine lifting activities, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices. Ensure that all crane-related certifications, inspections, and documentation are current and compliant, including cranes, wire ropes, blocks, hooks, lifting hardware, rigging tools, and accessories. Supervise, assess, and continuously evaluate crane operators, including participation in the operator selection and hiring process, verification of qualifications and certifications, and ongoing performance evaluation throughout the execution of the project. Provide technical oversight, coaching, and corrective guidance to crane operators as required. Specify, standardize, and manage crane-related tools and lifting accessories, including lifting beams, bins, slings, straps, shackles, spreader bars, and related rigging equipment. Oversee maintenance follow-up, reliability, and performance tracking for all cranes, in coordination with maintenance teams, vendors, and original equipment manufacturer (OEM). Hire, motivate, and lead a high-performing team through coaching, top-tier talent retention, and directed recruiting efforts. Supervises team, including training, providing work direction, problem-solving assistance, reviewing performance, recommending salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, and terminations. Ability to work a flexible work schedule, additional and/or different hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and/or holidays, as needed, to best serve the business operations. Ability to be on-call during designated periods outside of regular working hours, meaning must be available to respond to work-related issues and potentially be at the Project Office and/or Project Job-Site on short notice (i.e. within one (1) hour). Ability to maintain a valid and current driver’s license.QUALIFICATIONS
At a minimum, the Equipment Superintendent must have a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with at least 5 years of related equipment logistic experience in the construction industry, proven knowledge of construction equipment, maintenance practices, and safety regulations, proficient with inventory management software and tools, and a valid and current driver’s license. Prior supervisory or management experience is preferred.
