Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree required; recommended fields of study include communications, business administration, nonprofit administration, marketing, or liberal arts
Skills & Qualifications:
- Entry-level applicants accepted; one to three years of nonprofit administrative or development experience preferred
- Superb administrative and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail required and data entry experience preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with a high standard for professional conduct in both written and verbal correspondence; demonstrated success writing accurately, professionally, concisely, and compellingly for a variety of audiences
- Comfortable learning and using a variety of software systems with limited guidance, with Microsoft Office suite (particularly Excel) proficiency required; proficiency in donor management software systems (particularly Blackbaud Altru) preferred
Job Summary: The Development Coordinator is primarily responsible for supporting LASM’s development efforts by processing all gifts to the museum, preparing charitable giving acknowledgments, maintaining accurate contributed income records using donor management software, and liaising with volunteers to coordinate the museum’s annual fundraising Gala. Reporting to LASM’s Development Director, the Development Coordinator also assists with grants administration, planning fundraising campaigns, and other development-related functions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Processes all gifts to the museum, maintaining accurate and detailed contributed income records using the museum’s development-related software systems, including Blackbaud Altru, DipJar, and Qtego; prepares and sends accurate and timely charitable giving receipts and thank you notes
- Primary point of contact, minute-taker, and liaison for Board of Trustees Fundraising Committee, Gala Sub-Committee, and Anniversary Sub-Committee; primary museum point of contact for sponsors, committee members, and attendees of LASM’s annual fundraising Gala, with oversight from the Development Director
- Drafts and edits verbiage for development-related social media posts and email newsletters; assists the Development Director with drafting and editing verbiage for donor correspondence, grant applications and reports, and donor solicitation materials
- Assists the Development Director with grants administration, including researching prospective granting organizations, preparing grant applications, preparing grant reports, maintaining a detailed grant application and reporting schedule, and maintaining accurate and thorough records of grant-funded projects
- Assists the Development Director and Communications Manager with planning and implementing fundraising campaigns, including Giving Tuesday, 225 Gives, and anniversary events
