Registered Nurse (RN) - PRN

The RN provides nursing assessment, medication administration, monitoring, emergency response, patient education, and interdisciplinary care within the RN scope of practice.

Responsibilities Include:

1.      Complete nursing assessments and monitor patients for changes in physical, behavioral, psychiatric, and withdrawal status.

2.      Administer medications and treatments in accordance with provider orders, nursing standards, and facility policy; document patient response and report adverse reactions or medication errors.

3.      Monitor withdrawal symptoms, vital signs, and clinical status; promptly notify the appropriate provider and arrange a higher level of care when indicated.

4.      Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning, shift reporting, care coordination, patient education, and discharge planning.

5.      Respond to medical and behavioral emergencies and initiate CPR, first aid, emergency medical services, or other interventions as clinically indicated.

6.      Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 when applicable, LDH requirements, CARF standards, and organizational policy.

7.      Protect patient rights, dignity, privacy, and safety; provide trauma-informed, person-centered care and report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, or rights violations.

8.      Follow infection prevention, medication security, controlled substance, drug screening, emergency preparedness, and patient safety procedures.

9.      Delegate and supervise nursing-related tasks only when permitted by law, competency, and organizational policy.

10.  Participate in required training, competency assessments, quality improvement, incident review, and regulatory/accreditation activities.

11.  Perform additional duties assigned by the Director of Nursing or Facility Administrator within the RN scope of practice.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, respond promptly to emergencies, assist patients as needed, and perform duties involving exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and other healthcare hazards. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with applicable law.

REQUIREMENTS

• Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse license to practice in Louisiana
• Current CPR/BLS certification; additional certifications as required by the services provided.
• Behavioral health, psychiatric, substance use disorder, withdrawal management, residential, or inpatient nursing experience preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in medication administration, clinical assessment, emergency response, behavioral health, substance use disorders, documentation, and interdisciplinary care
