This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Louis A. Johnson Veterans Administration Medical Center, in the Health Administration Service (HAS). The primary purpose is to serve as Chief providing overall management and leadership of the service. The HAS Chief reports directly to the Associate Director.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-13 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-12. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. - Experience analyzing operational data, generating reports, and using data to support decision-making and organizational improvement.
Responsibilities:
- Provides High-Level Program Management, Integration, and Leadership.
- Serves as the Chief, Health Administration Service responsible for the management and execution of business activities, critical support services, and long-range strategic planning for the VA Louis A Johnson VA Medical Center (LAJVAMC).
- Directs, manages, and supervises the planning and execution of financial processes, human resources management, corporate information management; business planning; personnel resource assignments and skill development; and oversees other critical support services such as, legal, risk management; and special staff functions within the service.
- Plans, organizes and assigns work to subordinates engaged in Health Administration Service.
- Revises assignments or details employees to other duties as necessary to meet changing work situations, deadlines, or priorities.
- Prepares requests for filling vacancies to meet workload requirements.
- Establishes performance standards, ensures equity in performance standards developed by subordinates, and evaluates subordinates' performance.
- Establishes plans and policies to ensure accomplishment of programs and projects in Health Administration in an efficient and effective manner.
- Oversees service management through subordinates managing the daily operations of the sections of Health Information Management, Veterans Services, Primary Care Clinic Services, and Call Center & Specialty Scheduling located at the main medical campus and associated Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCS).
- Conducts extensive coordination, supervision, and integration of work with all elements within the service, the medical center, outpatient clinics and external agencies as required.
