Adult Literacy Program Manager
Classification: Non-exempt, hourly, part-time (25 hours/week.)
Compensation: $30-33 per hour
Benefits: Holiday and Paid Time Off
Reports to: Program Director
Worksite: Onsite at the Leesburg Office Location and Teaching Off-Site
Overview: This position is responsible for the implementation and management of the Adult Literacy Program
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Designs, develops, and delivers English language instruction
- Delivers English language classes to ESL adults weekly
- Ensures all classes are staffed and have sufficient program materials
- Selects, onboards, and trains instructors
- Manages instructors and instructor performance, including site visits
- Implements and manages student registrations
- Creates and manages program schedules
- Collaborates with Loudoun County Public Schools and Loudoun County Public Library
- Implements process improvements as needed
- Tracks program performance, analyzes trends, and runs reports
- Ensures program data is readily available to be used for grants and other reporting
- Responds to program inquiries from emails, phone calls, and office visitors
- Attends to miscellaneous administrative and office-based tasks
- Addresses all other duties as needed
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to teach multiple times every week; primarily early evening hours
- Must have a background and experience in at least one of the following areas:
- As a professional trainer/instructor in a corporate or government setting; OR
- As a certified K-12 teacher of English or English as Second Language; OR
- As a graduate of a degree or certificate program in Instructional Systems Design (ISD); OR
- Longstanding experience developing AND delivering ESL/ELL/ESOL programs
- Must be a self-directed learner and worker and able to work autonomously
- Must have effective oral and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge and prior application of adult learning theory
- Instructional design experience
- Prior experience working with a Learning Management System (LMS)
- Understanding of developmental linguistics
