Position Overview

The Coordinator of Gifted Education works with Supervisor of Gifted Education to coordinate gifted education services including the gifted eligibility process, standardized assessments, curriculum development, and professional learning. The coordinator will also provide ongoing support to gifted resource teachers.

Roles and Responsibilities

The following information is intended to describe the overall nature and scope of the work being performed. This is not a comprehensive listing of all responsibilities or tasks; work may differ and other work may be assigned when deemed appropriate.
  • Works with the Supervisor of Gifted Education to evaluate and enhance programming for students eligible for gifted services.
  • Supports the gifted eligibility process including district-wide data collection, parent notification, and gifted information sessions. Conducts training for gifted resource teachers. Administers and/or coordinates the administration of the Cognitive Abilities Test to support the eligibility process.
  • Coordinates all aspects of student participation in Summer Residential Governor's School.
  • Serves as a mentor to new gifted resource teachers and provides curriculum support to resource teachers as needed.
  • Organizes district-wide professional development meetings.
  • Promotes gifted education by assisting with the following tasks: maintaining gifted education calendar, publishing weekly updates, and responding to parent inquiries.


Qualifications

Below are the minimum qualifications for this job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are also acceptable.

Education
  • Masters' Degree in education with endorsement in gifted education


Experience

  • Five years of gifted classroom experience


Licenses and Certifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Experience and knowledge in curriculum development and professional learning
  • Ability to establish working relationships with school-based and central office staff
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. The employee must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly. The employee must possess normal cognitive abilities including the ability to learn, recall and apply certain practices and policies. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time. Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

Months/Days/Hours: 12 months, 248 days, 8 hours per day

Salary Level: Universal 16

Salary Range: $84,688 to $139,523
