Loudon High School is seeking a dedicated and experienced retired Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard officer (W2–O6) to lead our distinguished Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) program as the Senior Naval Science Instructor (SNSI). This is a unique opportunity to shape the next generation of leaders in a supportive East Tennessee community. The position is a full 12-month contract, with compensation set at the minimum pay established by the U.S. Navy. The start date for this role is August 1, 2026, for the 2026–2027 academic year.
About the Role
As the Senior Naval Science Instructor, you will be at the forefront of mentoring and developing approximately 50 high school cadets. You will be responsible for instilling the values of discipline, leadership, and citizenship. This dynamic role requires a flexible leader who is actively involved in the life of our cadets, including after-school and weekend events, competitive team activities, and community service projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and mentor a diverse unit of high school students, fostering a positive and challenging learning environment.
* Instruct cadets in the NJROTC curriculum, including naval science, leadership, and citizenship.
* Oversee all program activities, including extracurricular teams, community service initiatives, and competitive events.
* Manage the administrative and logistical aspects of the NJROTC unit.
* Foster strong relationships with students, parents, school administration, and the local community.
Qualifications
* Must be a certified retiree from the Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard with a pay grade of W2 to O6.
* A strong commitment to the development and mentorship of high school students.
* Proven leadership and management skills derived from a distinguished military career.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience leading or coaching drill and marksmanship teams is highly desirable.
