This role supports the commissioning and startup of electrical systems within complex construction and mission-critical environments. The position works closely with commissioning engineers, construction teams, and controls specialists to ensure systems are installed, tested, and energized safely and efficiently. The individual will play a key role in supporting system readiness, testing, and successful project handover.

This role supports the commissioning and startup of electrical systems within complex construction and mission-critical environments. The position works closely with commissioning engineers, construction teams, and controls specialists to ensure systems are installed, tested, and energized safely and efficiently. The individual will play a key role in supporting system readiness, testing, and successful project handover.
Responsibilities
- Support commissioning activities across all project phases, from design review through energization, testing, and final handover.
- Review electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, specifications, and control schematics to understand system design and identify potential issues.
- Perform installation verification and QA/QC walkdowns for electrical systems including switchgear, panels, transformers, UPS, and distribution systems.
- Execute pre-functional checklists to ensure systems are safe, complete, and ready for energization.
- Verify critical pre-energization requirements including insulation resistance (megger), continuity, torque checks, labeling, and grounding.
- Support safe energization of electrical systems in coordination with construction teams, vendors, and safety personnel.
- Assist with functional testing of electrical systems including power distribution, interlocks, alarms, and control sequences.
- Coordinate with controls and BMS teams to verify system integration and communication.
- Identify, document, and track commissioning issues through to resolution.
- Maintain accurate commissioning documentation including test records, checklists, and issue logs.
- Utilize commissioning tools and platforms to track system status, energization readiness, and testing progress.
- Participate in commissioning meetings and provide updates on system readiness and testing status.
- Support system turnover activities including completion of documentation and client handover.
- Follow all site safety procedures including LOTO and arc flash requirements while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems including switchgear, transformers, UPS, and power distribution.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and control schematics.
- Familiarity with commissioning processes including pre-functional and functional testing.
- Knowledge of electrical testing methods such as insulation resistance (megger) and continuity testing.
- Understanding of safety procedures including LOTO and arc flash requirements.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and reporting skills.
- Effective communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve field issues in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using commissioning or construction management software tools.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- Electrical or commissioning-related certifications preferred. Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
