Role Description
Job Title: Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist
Location: Federal Correctional Complex (FCC), Butner, NC
Job Type: Full-time (35 sessions per week, Monday through Friday)
Schedule: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (30-minute unpaid lunch break; Federal holidays off)
Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and skilled Registered and Board Certified Art Therapist to provide individual and group therapy sessions at the Federal Correctional Complex (FCC) Butner. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in enhancing the emotional well-being of adults in custody (AIC) by facilitating therapeutic art therapy sessions designed to improve mental health, manage stress, and foster personal expression.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group art therapy sessions to pretrial and convicted AIC.
- Develop and implement treatment plans tailored to the needs of the AIC.
- Facilitate self-awareness and expression through art, enabling patients to cope with symptoms, stress, and traumatic experiences.
- Document evaluations, progress, and treatment plans using the Bureau of Prisons Electronic Medical Records (BEMR).
- Ensure all therapeutic interventions are consistent with Joint Commission and American Correctional Association standards.
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with BOP policies and regulations.
- Collaborate with the Health Services Administrator (HSA) and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) to ensure the quality of services.
- Maintain and update professional certifications and licensure as required.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Art Therapy from a nationally accredited university or college.
- Registered and board certified by the Art Therapy Credentialing Board (ATCB).
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience working as an Art Therapist.
- In-depth knowledge of DSM-V diagnoses and psychological treatment modalities.
- CPR certification through American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Ability to pass a drug screening and law enforcement background check.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
- Preferred: Bilingual skills (Spanish) and correctional facility experience.
