Medical Billing Position

- Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems to ensure proper reimbursement
- Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and compliance with billing regulations
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to manage patient information and billing data efficiently
- Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers to resolve billing discrepancies or questions
- Maintain detailed records of all billing activities, including adjustments, payments, and collections
- Stay updated on industry changes related to medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
- Work on collections
- Assist in the No Surprise Act process
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing with a solid understanding of medical terminology and coding practices including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, ICD coding, and DRG systems
- Strong knowledge of medical office procedures and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for accurate data entry and management
- Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper billing and coding purposes
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with insurance providers, patients, and team members
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims efficiently
- Knowledge of medical collection processes to recover outstanding payments promptly
- Prior experience working with medical records management and understanding of healthcare compliance standards
