Position Overview:
My Neighbor Felix is a pan-Mexican kitchen and bar inspired by all seven regions of Mexico, delivering bold flavors, vibrant energy, and a hospitality-driven experience. We are seeking a driven, experienced Executive Chef to lead all culinary operations in our Colorado Springs location.
This role is responsible for setting the tone for culinary excellence, leading and developing a high-performing kitchen team, and ensuring consistent execution of the My Neighbor Felix brand standards. The Executive Chef will own food quality, cost controls, team development, and kitchen culture while partnering closely with front-of-house leadership to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
This is a hands-on leadership role for a chef who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is passionate about continuous improvement, team development, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Menu Development & Execution
Lead execution of all menus, ensuring consistency, quality, and adherence to brand standards
Collaborate with corporate culinary leadership on seasonal updates, features, and menu evolution
Drive creativity through specials while maintaining operational efficiency and cost targets
Culinary Leadership & Team Development
Recruit, hire, train, and develop all BOH team members
Create a culture of accountability, growth, and professionalism within the kitchen
Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and leadership development for sous chefs and key team members
Financial & Operational Performance
Own and manage food cost, labor cost, and overall kitchen P&L performance
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and vendor relationships to ensure optimal product quality and cost efficiency
Implement systems to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and maintain profitability
Kitchen Operations & Standards
Ensure all food is executed to company standards for quality, presentation, and consistency
Maintain strict adherence to sanitation, food safety, and health department regulations
Oversee maintenance and cleanliness of all kitchen equipment and facilities
Collaboration with FOH & Leadership Team
Partner with General Manager and FOH leadership to align operations and enhance the guest experience
Support banquet, catering, and special event execution as needed
Actively participate in leadership meetings and contribute to overall business strategy
Innovation & Brand Integrity
Stay current with culinary trends and techniques while maintaining the integrity of the My Neighbor Felix concept
Balance creativity with consistency and operational practicality
Guest Experience & Accountability
Ensure every dish meets quality expectations and contributes to a best-in-class guest experience
Address guest feedback related to food and continuously improve systems and execution
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of culinary management experience, with at least 3 years in an Executive Chef or similar leadership role in a high-volume, full-service restaurant
Strong understanding of kitchen financials, including food cost, labor management, and budgeting
Experience leading, training, and developing large BOH teams
Culinary Degree Preferred But Not Required With Equivalent Experience
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
