Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Behavior Health Worker located in Baltimore, MD. The Peer Counselor will be responsible for providing empathetic support and guidance to clients, fostering a trusting relationship to promote mental well-being. Day-to-day tasks include offering peer support, facilitating mentoring sessions, assisting with educational activities, and working closely with clients to address their mental health needs. The role also involves collaborating with a diverse team of professionals to deliver comprehensive care tailored to each individual.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Peer Support and the ability to provide empathetic and relatable guidance
- Excellent Communication and active listening skills to effectively engage with clients
- Experience in Mentoring and providing support to individuals with diverse needs
- Knowledge or background in Education and the ability to assist clients in accessing educational resources
- Understanding of Mental Health principles and a commitment to promoting overall well-being
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications or training in peer counseling or mental health preferred
- Personal or professional experience with overcoming challenges related to behavioral health is a plus
