Job Summary: The Logistics & Material Specialist ensures the seamless flow of goods into, through, and out of the plant. This role requires a highly collaborative, cross-functional approach to plant logistics. While individual specialists may be assigned primary responsibilities within specific focus areas (Receiving, Shipping, or Material Handling), all personnel are required to cross-train on all duties and provide daily operational backup to ensure zero plant downtime and optimal efficiency.
Job Responsibilities
- Direct and handle incoming trucks arriving at the plant to initiate the intake process.
- Assist in the physical unloading of incoming shipments, delivery trucks, and heavy freight using appropriate material handling equipment.
- Perform receiving inspections to verify product quantity, check for damage, and validate documentation to ensure accurate initial inventory capture.
- Promptly notify supervisors of major inbound discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions to prevent inventory system errors.
- Package and unpackage incoming materials; breakdown and repalletize products to adhere to plant specifications before putting them into inventory.
- Arrange and coordinate required domestic and international outgoing freight.
- Schedule trucks and logistics carriers to pick up outbound shipments and production scrap.
- Prepare all Bills of Lading (BOL) and required shipping paperwork for compliance (i.e., Proforma Invoices, Country of Origin, etc.), completing paperwork per work instructions to legally deduct items from active inventory.
- Prepare outbound packaging per customer specifications.
- Perform final shipping inspections to verify correctness and quality of outgoing material shipments and labeling against inventory order pick lists.
- Package, unpackage, and assist in the secure loading of outgoing trucks, flatbeds, containers, and freight trailers to finalize the shipping cycle.
- Obtain and maintain forklift and telehandler certification, and safely assist in spotting telehandler drivers when needed to ensure safe material movement.
- Move, organize, and strategically store raw materials and finished goods in the warehouse or yard using forklifts, telehandlers, or cranes to maintain precise physical inventory locations.
- Deliver required materials to elevators to prevent downtime, supporting output by issuing inventory to production.
- Identify, hold, and segregate defective or damaged materials or packaging materials away from good inventory.
- Perform necessary stock transfers and shipping/receiving functions in SAP, MES, and HBW systems to keep virtual and physical inventory synchronized.
- Manage all scrap weight tickets and execute all scrap processing functions directly in SAP to accurately write off scrap inventory.
- Perform manual inventory adjustments, assist in cycle counts, and perform physical material inventories to establish, maintain, and document receipt, shipment, and total control.
- Assist in managing all plant packaging using databases.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, performing other clerical duties and assigned tasks as needed to protect inventory integrity.
- As the facility scales, this role may require guiding and training temporary associates to ensure they safely and accurately follow plant work instructions, material handling protocols, and safety standards.
- Perform other clerical tasks, specialized projects, and additional duties as assigned by management to support changing plant volumes and operational needs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
High School Diploma
Forklift, telehandler, and crane operator certifications (required upon hire or within a designated onboarding period)
Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Prior knowledge of SAP and MES computer systems is highly preferred
3 years plus experience in shipping and/or receiving
Physical Requirements
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee will be required to: sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time and work on a computer; regularly walk, stand, sit and communicate. Must be comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment. Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time, climb stairs frequently throughout each day, and do some lifting. There are times when you will need to walk through the manufacturing plant floor or walk between buildings, which includes but is not limited to walking outside, walking up and down stairs, walking across metal grates and potentially being in contact with slippery surfaces.
