Regional Administrative Coordinator, College and Career, School Counseling Services Published Date: Apr 20, 2026 Location: US Company: Los Angeles Unified School District DESCRIPTION: Division of Instruction School Counseling Services REGIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR, COLLEGE AND CAREER, SCHOOL COUNSELING SERVICES 43G (School Support Administrator, 0515) (Vacancy at Region South) PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary Duties/Responsibilities: Oversees the region’s professional development regarding the implementation of a comprehensive counseling program based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model and a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Provides direct support and consultation to region leadership on all matters related to comprehensive counseling, master scheduling, graduation, CTE and post-secondary planning Supports the development and implementation of multiple credit/course recovery pathways at school sites Designs and leads region initiatives to improve student graduation rates and post-secondary outcomes Coordinates implementation of a District-wide comprehensive counseling program within a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support that provides services in the academic, college/career, and social emotional domains Utilizes the California Standards for the School Counseling Profession to guide school site implementation of counseling practices that are evidence-based, data-driven, and culturally responsive Coordinates and collaborates with school site administrators to establish the counselors’ role in providing school-based mental health services and building systems that value mental health and promote a healthy learning environment for all students Oversees region counseling staff and provides guidance to school site administrators on the supervision of the counseling program Supports schools with implementation of CTE pathways Provides training for region and school site administrators regarding the use of data to monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of counseling, college, and career services delivered to students CONTINUE - PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversees all dual enrollment agreements between region high schools and community colleges Provides monthly updates on Individualized Graduation Plan (IGP) completion and student progress towards graduation for region leadership teams, and provides interventions for schools not meeting targets Supports principals and school administration to ensure school site implementation of their college and career plans Works closely with schools on developing a college and career culture Reviews student data to identify equity gaps and design plans to remove systemic barriers to advanced coursework, including Advanced Placement (AP), Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways, dual enrollment, and coursework beyond the minimum graduation requirements Establishes systems of support to meet student submission and completion of FAFSA Supports the Division of Instruction with developing and implementing District policy related to school counseling, CTE and A-G Supervises and evaluates performance of regional counseling coordinators Performs other duties as assigned SALARY: 43G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – A Basis ($149,046 – $185,940) – 261 paid days In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment). For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit. Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations. This position is deemed certificated under Education Code Section 44065, but may not qualify for "creditable service" under Education Code Section 22119.5 for CalSTRS benefits. However, if the candidate chosen for the position is already a CalSTRS member, he/she can fill out an election form to remain in CalSTRS and thereby obtain CalSTRS credit for this service. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Permanent certificated employee of the Los Angeles Unified School District At least eight (8) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than two (2) years of which must have been in a position(s) requiring the Administrative Services Credential At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated counseling position(s) At least three (3) years of successful, full-time public school experience as an Assistant Principal, Secondary Counseling Services (APSCS) or as an assistant principal supervising the counseling department A valid California Administrative Services Credential A valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework* CONTINUE - MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: *Applicants have one year to complete this requirement. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS: Experience as a region counseling coordinator Experience in utilizing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support to provide counseling, college, and career services to students Experience in building a student-centered Master Schedule at one or more secondary sites Experience in designing and delivering professional development using adult learning theory Experience in working with dual enrollment programs Knowledge of CTE pathways Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of a comprehensive counseling program based on the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model Knowledge and skills using the MiSiS and Focus platforms Knowledge and understanding of the LAUSD A-G graduation requirements Leadership skills in facilitating group processes, including consensus building and conflict resolution Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to work effectively with diverse populations Ability to travel to multiple sites throughout the District APPLICATION PROCEDURE: To be considered for this position, qualified applicants must submit the following application materials: Letter of interest that describes qualifications for this position and successful experience in the following areas: Leading and coordinating school-wide or District-wide implementation of District initiatives Designing and delivering professional development for school counselors and administrators Coordinating school site counseling services to improve student outcomes related to graduation, college and career readiness, and social-emotional well-being.
