Essential Duties & Responsibilities (those that must be performed with or without an ADA Accommodation):
- Proactive outreach to students via phone, e-mail and text as required by early alert systems.
- Meet with students to provide completion coaching, assistance and guidance on overcoming barriers to success including issues with housing and transportation, mental and physical wellness, time management, and behavioral concerns.
- Provide individual student advisement on study plans and skills, time and stress management, goal setting, mental and physical wellness, and other student success skills and strategies.
- Motivate students to develop positive and effective study habits for long-term academic success.
- Act as the student liaison to other departments.
- Regularly monitor student attendance, GPA, and other components of academic progress.
- Provide students with available internal and external resources to aid with their success.
- Provide guidance and services to students with a qualifying disability.
- Conduct comprehensive intake interviews with the applicants.
- Review supporting documentation to determine eligibility for accommodations and accessibility services.
- Determine students' functional limitations in a college setting and approve appropriate accommodations.
- Act as a resource for faculty and staff in the provision of services
- Maintain files and database of disabilities and accommodations in accordance with federal and state laws and regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Proper handling of student complaints - take issues needing further review to the Manager of Student Advising and/or the appropriate department.

- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Prior experience in academic advising, admissions or other student services related department at the postsecondary level preferred.
- Experience working with disabled students is required.
- Proficiency with PC and Mac (MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Keynote).
- Ability to learn new programs as required, etc.
- In-office presence per telework agreement
- Must be able to lift up to 101bs, etc.
- Must be able to sit and operate a computer
- Ability to assist in complex student situations.
- Ability to assist students requiring disability accommodations.
- Ability to professionally handle crisis situations with an upset student.
