THE POSITION: The Coordinator III will work within the Department of Special Education to assist districts within LA County. The Coordinator III will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative professional learning systems and technical assistance initiatives focused on improving outcomes for students with disabilities and advancing inclusive educational practices. Responsibilities include designing and delivering high-impact professional learning opportunities, coaching systems, keynote presentations, leadership institutes, workshops, and job-embedded support for educators, administrators, and multidisciplinary teams. The Coordinator III will analyze multiple sources of educational data to identify trends, determine areas of need, and develop strategic recommendations for continuous improvement. The Coordinator III will lead complex problem-solving efforts, support conflict resolution processes, and assist local educational agencies in strengthening systems, compliance practices, and inclusive service delivery. This position will supervise, coordinate, or lead the work of projects, coaches, consultants, or cross-functional teams, while fostering collaboration across districts.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Masters in Education or a related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by one of the six regional accreditation associations as recognized by the Council on Postsecondary Accreditation. A minimum of 5 years of experience as a teacher or special education related service provider such as a school psychologist or speech pathologist. A minimum of 2 years administrative experience either a special education administrator at a district, SELPA or County Office or as a general education administrator supporting special education students in capacities is preferred. Experience working with adult learners; familiarity with best practices in training and/or coaching adults. Experience supporting schools, teachers, or LEAs with rollout or implementation of inclusive practices. LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE: Must hold a valid California Administrative Services Credential or Certificate of Eligibility. AND one of the following: A valid Teaching Credential - Multiple Subject, Single Subject or Education Specialist A Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential A Pupil Personnel Services Credential
