We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Olive Store Clerk & Tasting Room Server to deliver an exceptional guest experience in our retail store and tasting room. This role combines retail sales with guided product tastings, requiring a passion for food, customer service, and storytelling. The ideal candidate is warm, engaging, and excited to educate customers about olive oils, wines, and specialty food products.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service & Sales
• Greeting customers warmly and creating a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere
• Assist guests with product selection, pairing suggestions, and gift ideas
• Process sales accurately using the POS system
• Promote specials, new products, and seasonal offerings
Tasting Room Service
• Lead olive oil, wine, spirits, and dairy tastings in an engaging, informative manner
• Explain flavor profiles, production methods, and usage tips
• Maintain tasting stations, including restocking, cleaning, and sanitation
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards
Store Operations
• Stock shelves, label products, and rotate inventory
• Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing store and tasting room
• Assist with opening and closing procedures
• Support inventory counts and restocking as needed
Los Angeles International Competitions Representation
• Share the story and values of the brands with enthusiasm
• Build rapport with repeat customers and encourage loyalty
• Always represent the competitions professionally
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Previous retail, food service, or tasting room experience preferred
• Must have Food Handlers certification
• Must have ABC certification
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Comfortable speaking to individuals and small groups
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a customer-facing environment
• Basic math skills and comfort using POS systems
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. (cases of product)
Schedule Requirements
• Availability on weekends and holidays as needed
• Flexible schedule preferred
