Design Staff

Description

Works within a fast-paced environment to meet the demands of multiple projects simultaneously. Will assist in creating approved attractions including but not limited to: set design, decorating photo props, creating entrances to various attractions, and decorating vignettes. Is responsible for assisting in events, set-up, working in an assigned attraction during Fair, and assisting with additional projects and day to day activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Works within the Programming Department in creating unique exhibits and attractions for guests
•    Must work with others in creating sets, decorating photo props, and decorating vignettes for all Fairplex Presents events
•    Will assist the Programming Department with various competitions including but not limited to: Los Angeles International Competitions, Home Arts, Culinary Kitchen, Livestock, Landscaping
•    Assisting with pre-Fair set-up of attractions and exhibits
•    Works within assigned project budgets and tracks expenses
•    Must provide excellent customer service in attractions and throughout the grounds
•    Ensure that the assigned attraction space is neat and clean throughout the day 
•    Performing other duties as required by the Programming Department
•    Other duties as assigned•    
 

Qualifications

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
•     Skilled in creative décor and basic fabrication 
•     Skilled in identifying and recommending solutions to problems
•     Skilled in working with deadlines to complete projects and assignments
•     Skilled in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks and demands
• Must demonstrate sound decision making
• Must be a team player, with solid work and behavior ethics

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
•    Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
•    Ability to walk and stand for 8 hours a day
•    Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
•    Must be available to work every day of the LA County Fair•    
 

Salary : $20 - $22
