What are the responsibilities and job description for the Farm Competitions Staff position at LOS ANGELES COUNTY FAIR ASSN FAIRGROUNDS?
The Farm Competition Staff will support the execution of agriculture competitions with local student farm/agriculture associations and organizations during the LA County Fair.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with Livestock Exhibitor Arrival & Check-in
• Assist with weight in of Market animals
• Prep Ribbons, Rosettes, and Buckles for competitions
• While working with another Farm Competitions Staff, will fill out judging sheets, sanction paperwork and hand out ribbons
• Monitors Landscape Exhibit areas during Landscape build up
• Answer exhibitor and fair patron questions as needed
• Other duties as assigned
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
• Ability to work as needed
• Strong verbal and written communication skills,
• Strong organization skills
• Background in working with animals, preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to stand, sit, and move around the fairgrounds
• May be asked to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions, such as heat, cold, or rain
• Must have reliable transportation
