SPECIAL SALARY INFORMATION
Per MOU, Section 11. Public Works Waterworks District 29 – Malibu Effective October 1, 2023, all classifications permanently assigned to the South Maintenance Area (Malibu Office), in the Department of Public Works shall receive additional compensation of four salary schedules higher than that provided in Section 6.28.140.- The reporting office is located at 23533 Civic Center Way, Malibu CA 90265.
Please note that the additional compensation bonus is subject to cancellation, if the person holding the Water Service Helper I title should transfer from the Malibu office to another office location.

Essential Job Functions
- Assists in performing routine water service work (e.g., maintenance, installation, repair) on water district systems (e.g., valves, motors, service connections, water mains, water meters, hydrants, water storage, appurtenant facilities) and equipment (e.g., pumping equipment).
- Employs safe work practices.
- Interacts with co-workers and members of the public.
- Completes daily reports and keeps records (e.g., service work orders, logs, reports, notes, timesheet).
- Assists in transporting tools and equipment.
Requirements
Requirements to Qualify:
No training or experience is required.
LICENSE:A valid California Class C Driver License is required to perform job-related essential functions. A valid California Class A or B Driver License may be required for appointment to some positions in this class.
Successful applicants for the positions that require driving must provide verification of their driver license and a copy of their driving record from the California State Department of Motor Vehicles before final appointment. Applicants should not present a copy of their driving history until asked to do so by the hiring department. The County will make an individualized assessment of whether an applicant's driving history has direct or adverse relationship with the specific duties of the job. License must not be currently suspended, restricted, or revoked.
Please note that the three percent (3%) bonus is subject to cancellation, if the person holding the Water Service Helper I title should transfer from the Malibu office to another office location.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class 4 – Arduous: This class involves frequent heavy lifting over 25 pounds, often combined with bending, twisting, or working above ground on irregular surfaces. It includes those positions that occasionally demand extraordinary physical activity such as those in Safety positions.

Applicants who passed the assessment(s) are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. We will use this list to fill vacancies in the Department of Public Works as they occur.
