The Los Angeles County Office of the Assessor is recruiting for the position of Appraiser: Personal Property. Once hired you will participate in the Appraiser Trainee Certification Program (ATCP). This one-year paid program combines classroom instruction and real-world field training to prepare you for a career appraising machinery, equipment, and other taxable personal property for assessment purposes.

What You’ll Do:

  • Learn and apply appraisal methods to determine fair market value of business personal property
  • Conduct field canvasses to discover and appraise taxable property using assessment tools and field books
  • Process Business Property Statements and enroll property tax assessments
  • Analyze market and financial data to complete appraisals
  • Prepare and present assessment appeal cases as an expert witness
  • Collaborate with peers, taxpayers, and agencies to explain policies and resolve inquiries

Minimum Requirements:

  • Option I: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university including 6 semester or 9 quarter units in accounting.
