SUMMARY:
The Theater Coach oversees and supports the Olions Thespian Club and related theater activities at Los Alamos High School. The coach works collaboratively with the Activities Office, booster organizations, student leadership groups, and community members to provide theatrical productions and educational opportunities for students.
Responsibilities include supervising student participants, facilitating regular meetings, coordinating productions and related activities, supporting student leadership development, and assisting with program organization throughout the school year. The coach promotes student involvement, collaboration, and positive representation of the school through theater and performing arts activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Theater Coach oversees the theater program, student organization, and production activities.
Program Leadership & Production
- Coordinate annual production schedules and theater programming
- Oversee rehearsals and support all performance and technical theater activities
- Provide direction and structure for program goals and artistic focus
Student Leadership & Development
- Facilitate student leadership meetings and support club participation
- Support student recruitment, engagement, and retention in theater programs
Supervision & Learning Environment
- Ensure safe, structured, and educational rehearsal and performance environments
- Support student learning in theater arts and production skills
Operations & Collaboration
- Collaborate with staff, district personnel, community partners, and booster organizations
- Support budget planning and program logistics in accordance with district procedures
- Coordinate competition and recognition event requirements (e.g., NMAA One Act, Enchantment Awards)
