Security Specialist 4 ($104,100 - $172,200)
Associate Laboratory Directorate Defense Protection is seeking an experienced security professional to advise and facilitate secure work for laboratory mission partners. You will be instrumental in helping the Deputy Directorate for Weapons accomplish national security priorities. Working in a high-visibility and high-impact environment, you will need to have a strong work ethic, keen attention to detail, customer-focused attitude, and professional demeanor to ensure compliance with all federal and LANL security requirements while optimizing efficiency/success for supported organizations. You must be able to demonstrate and promote self-responsibility for safety, security, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of operations. The Deployed Security Professional is an advisor and reports to the Security Program Lead (Security Manager 3).

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
HRP: This position is subject to the requirements of the DOE Human Reliability Program as specified in 10 Code of Federal Regulation, Part 712, §712.11. These requirements include on going drug and alcohol testing, as well as periodic medical and psychological evaluations.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Advanced knowledge and experience in one or more of the major security areas - classified matter protection and control, information security, physical security, personnel security, operations security, etc.
- Advanced experience and skill in the preparation and presentation of security reports to internal organizations
- Advanced experience and demonstrated ability in writing and implementing procedures, policies, guides or other formal documents, demonstrating compliance with security requirements
- Advanced experience and demonstrated ability developing innovative methods for implementing processes and procedures
- Advanced experience interfacing with all levels of management, technical and non- technical personnel
- Advanced experience leading small teams, setting goals and delegating tasks
- Advanced knowledge and experience conducting causal analysis, writing corrective actions and evaluating effectiveness
- Advanced experience identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvement
- In-depth knowledge and high-level experience with security functions such as inspections, identification of vulnerabilities, and assessment of risks
Education and Experience:
