What You Will Do
The Material Science Scattering Team is seeking motivated candidates to fill an immediate Operations Support Specialist position. The selected candidates will facilitate safe, compliant and efficient execution of work at TA-53 among other DOE regulated facilities.

Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated advanced skills networking effectively with stakeholders and key contacts outside own area of expertise, both internal and external to the organization.
Customer Service
Exceptional customer service, organizational skills, and ability to interact with all levels of personnel internal and external to the organization.
Clearance
Eligible to obtain a DOE Q Clearance
Education/Experience: Position requires an Associates Degree in a relevant field and two years of relevant experience or , an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications:
Work Environment: This position can require 24/7 coverage, which could involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management. Occasional travel to external experimental facilities will be required (~15%)
Position Commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

- Assists in the day-to-day execution schedule at TA-53, and other nuclear locations as needed.
- Ensure work is performed in accordance with the scheduling and execution procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety/security requirements and take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing a job is unsafe or compromises security.
- Ensure Shipping of materials up to and including hazardous/radioactive sample is done in accordance with DOE compliance
- Execute Procurement and obtain necessary approvals for exceptions
- Interface with the creation/maintenance/deployment of Active Security Plans (ASP)
- Real time execution of ASP for experimental work
- Light administrative duties to support Team leader
- Serve as the team Point of Contact to support team lead when not available
