What You Will Do

The Procurement Engineering & Acquisitions Management Group (SCL-1) within the Weapons Production Directorate is seeking a motivated professional to support production control, procurement, and inventory management activities.

The selected candidate will work under the direction of senior staff to execute assigned tasks in support of construction and equipment installation-related procurement activities. Responsibilities include assisting with tracking and expediting materials, maintaining accurate tracking of inventory and procurement data, and supporting compliance with applicable procedures and quality standards.

The selected candidate will contribute to a team environment and assist in resolving a variety of routine to moderately complex issues where analysis of data requires review of identifiable factors. Tasks may include corresponding with internal customers and suppliers, performing data entry and validation in procurement systems, and supporting reporting activities. This role plays a supporting part in ensuring organizational milestones and deliverables are met.

  • Education/Experience: Position requires a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
  • Functionality:
    • Demonstrated ability to follow established policies, procedures, and practices related to procurement, production control, or inventory management.
    • Ability to perform assigned tasks under direction and guidance from senior staff.
    • Working knowledge of production and/or inventory control principles and practices.
    • Ability to gather, review, and maintain data within procurement and inventory systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to contribute to resolving routine to moderately complex problems with guidance.
    • Ability to utilize standard tools and processes to support production, inventory control, or procurement activities.
    • Basic knowledge of production and inventory control and planning methods.
    • Awareness and willingness to learn Laboratory procedures, standards, and guides.
    • A willingness to learn of industry, regulatory, or Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) complex codes, standards, and criteria pertinent to the particular engineering discipline.
  • Computing/Business Systems:
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications.
    • Experience or ability to learn database, procurement, or inventory management systems.
  • Customer Service:
    • Demonstrated ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Ability to provide clear and concise information in support of customer needs.
  • Communication:
    • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Creative Problem Solving:
    • Ability to apply standard techniques and processes to resolve routine issues.
    • Willingness to seek guidance when addressing more complex problems.
  • Organizational Skills:
    • Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a structured work environment.
Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting procurement, inventory tracking, or supply chain activities.
  • Familiarity with enterprise systems such as SAP or Ariba.
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliance driven environment.
  • Awareness of supply chain management practices.
  • An active DOE Q-level clearance.

Term Appointment: This position is for a Term Appointment: hired for periods of up to a maximum of 10 years. Term employees are at-will and may be terminated at any time.

Work Location: The work location for this position is on-site with the opportunity to transition into a hybrid schedule with locations in Los Alamos and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Hybrid is defined as working partially onsite (up to 80%) and partially offsite within a 2-hour ground commute to LANL's main campus in Los Alamos, New Mexico. On-site attendance is expected for this position. This is not a Telework or Remote position. All work locations and schedules are at the discretion of management and can change at any time with appropriate notice.

Work Schedule: This position may/will require 24/7 coverage, which could/will involve working a shift/weekend schedule. Employees may be eligible for the shift differential pay when assigned by their manager. Shift/weekend assignments are at the discretion of the manager.

Additional Details

Directive 206.2: Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

  • Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
