At Los Alamos National Laboratory, the Infrastructure Services Division (ISD) is seeking an experienced Audio-Visual (AV) Technician to support the Telecommunication Services group (ISD-TS) and maintain a wide range of communication and media systems. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of AV equipment and integrated systems, with a focus on supporting auditoriums, meeting rooms, and high-level VIP events. Responsibilities include setup, operation, and troubleshooting of audiovisual systems to ensure seamless presentations and mission-critical communications.

What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Experience supporting AV systems in auditoriums, conference rooms, or event environments including executive or VIP meetings, with professionalism and discretion
- Experience setting up, operating, and troubleshooting AV equipment such as camera, displays, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing platforms, and control systems
- Working knowledge of AV signal flow, cabling, and basic networking concepts for AV-over-IP systems
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues under time-sensitive conditions
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical users
Desired Qualifications:
- Familiarity with streaming, recording, and live event production technologies
- Knowledge of lighting systems and stage production for events
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple events or system upgrades simultaneously
- Demonstrated ability to anticipate issues and proactively ensure seamless execution of high-visibility events
- Lift and carry equipment up to 40-50 pounds (e.g., AV components, monitors, cables, tools)
- Stand and walk for extended periods during event setup, support, and teardown
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch to access equipment racks, floor ports, and under-stage areas
- Climb ladders or step stools to install or service ceiling-mounted projectors, speakers, and cabling
- Use hands and fingers for fine motor tasks, including connecting cables, operating tools, and performing detailed equipment repairs
- Work in confined or equipment-dense spaces, such as control booths, racks, and behind-stage areas
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely
- Visually inspect equipment and read small text or displays, including wiring diagrams and control panels
- Respond to urgent issues, which may require rapid movement between locations
- Ability to work occasional extended hours or varied schedules to support events
- Ability to work in low-light or high-noise environments typical of auditorium operations
