193 work contract- August 4, 2026 to May 28, 2027

SUMMARY:

Under general supervision to perform duties in the enforcement and maintenance of security and safety guidelines; to patrol areas and enforce District rules and regulations; to interpret, explain and apply District security policies and procedures; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform a variety of duties in the enforcement and maintenance of security and safety guidelines to maintain a safe school environment.
• Patrol assigned areas and enforce security and safety guidelines; monitor students and spectators during on-campus events.
• Interpret, explain and enforce policies and procedures to students as required; police areas to include but are not limited to, behavior, substance and nicotine abuse, parking and speed standards, and related safety areas.
• Patrol assigned parking area on foot or in a vehicle to maintain security of buildings, facilities and persons; enforce District parking and related traffic ordinances; issue verbal or written citations for violations observed.
• Within established guidelines, communicate with administrative staff regarding the status of behavioral problems or disciplinary actions.
• Assist the public by providing information, directions and responding to inquiries and questions.
• As directed, work with law enforcement staff and emergency service providers to maintain a safe environment for district students and staff. 
• Monitor, direct and control visitor access.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures established for work area.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
• Perform searches for suspected contraband or weapons under the supervision of a school administrator

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 

• Operations, services and activities of a campus security program.
• Principles, practices, methods and techniques of security program and traffic control.
• General parking rules and regulations.
• Methods and techniques of directing and controlling traffic.
• General security policies and procedures.
• Methods and techniques of patrol and surveillance.
• Methods and techniques of handling discipline problems and disruptive behavior.
• Occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
• Pertinent Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE:  

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in security or a related field.
• Possession of a valid New Mexico driver’s license.
• At least one year of security program experience is preferred. 

SKILLS & ABILITIES:  Ability to: 

• Monitor, patrol and observe student and visitor activities.
• Interpret and apply District and mandated policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
• Administer procedures related to safety and security.
• Enforce District parking and related traffic ordinances.
• Observe and report unusual occurrences and violations.
• Respond quickly and calmly to emergency situations.
• Work cooperatively with law enforcement and emergency officials.
• Safely operate a vehicle in all weather conditions.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
