The Team
Our Healthcare Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with proven interest in building design. Working closely with our clients, the Healthcare Group focuses on building-system solutions for hospitals, medical clinics, outpatient centers, labs, and other healthcare facilities. This hybrid position (4 days in office) is located in our New York corporate office.
Role and Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air and water distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation, and controls.
- Perform system design calculations, load calculations, and some Energy modeling.
- Select equipment for use in building systems.
- Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings.
- Prepare contract drawings detailing the designed systems.
- Report writing and specification preparation.
- Coordinate work with engineers of other disciplines and architects.
- Attend meetings and communicate with clients, establish their needs, and discuss design issues with them.
- Possess an understanding of plumbing, fire protection, electrical, and fire alarm trades and their associated coordination issues and impacts for MEP trades.
- Manage a small project, work area, or technical skill set, monitor quality of work, and be involved in client liaison.
Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in commercial/institutional building projects
- 5 years of experience designing HVAC systems for buildings.
- Professional experience with 2D/3D modeling and drafting software, including AutoCAD, and Revit
- EIT license preferred
- Strong fundamental understanding of NYC and national building codes
- Knowledge of the Guidelines for the Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities (FGI Guidelines)
- Previous Healthcare experience highly desirable
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Solid analytical, quantitative skills and a demonstrated capability for analysis and strategic thinking
- Robust initiative and willingness to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment.
- Ability to multi-task with multiple projects to meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in accessible ways, both verbally and in writing
The salary range for this position will be between $100,000- $130,000. This is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this position. Actual base salary will vary and will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, education, skills, licensure, location and other business and organizational needs. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. At Loring, we offer a competitive benefits package, and eligibility for discretionary incentives based on position, which are determined by company and individual performance.
