SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, The Director of Behavioral Health is responsible for the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of the Addictions, Outpatient Residential Rehabilitation, Crisis, and Behavioral Health programs. Ensures that programs, policies and procedures are in compliance with regulatory standards. Develops and maintains marketing activities for the Mental Health programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicates effectively with staff through staff meetings, memos, and verbal communication. Monitors and assesses documentation of patient acuity and treatment plans.
- Provides support and direction to supervisors, managers and staff.
- Assists with the development of and interpretation of policies and procedures to personnel, physicians, patients and appropriate others.
- Participates in patient admission intake and facilitates appropriate placement in collaboration with physicians.
- Establishes and maintains compliance with hospital standards for patient care and quality improvement.
- Attends mandatory hospital in-services, meetings, attends in-services/seminars to improve personal knowledge and skills.
- Fosters teamwork; demonstrates ability to communicate and work with medical staff, subordinates, peers, supervisors and all departments.
- Develops and revises programs as appropriate, utilizing mental health standards and regulations.
- Investigates and resolves problems, occurrence reports, and conflict resolution.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understands and adheres to Loretto Hospital’s compliance standards as they appear in the Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
- Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Hospital regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
- Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
- Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of Illinois
- Master’s Degree in Psychiatric Nursing preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ clinical experience; 5-6 years of management experience preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate basic communication skills and a thorough knowledge of the Illinois Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Code and standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand and walk as well as occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Using proper body mechanics, the employee may be expected to lift, pull, push or move patients and/or equipment. Fine motor skills are required when using hands and fingers to handle, feel or reach. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and ability to speak are necessary. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, sharp eye focus and ability to distinguish colors. There will be periods of stressful intense concentration with more than average pressure used in a variety of problem-solving situations.

Salary : $120,000 - $140,000
