Job Summary/Responsibilities
The Public Area Attendant is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, order, and appearance of all public spaces in the hotel, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, elevators, and other guest-facing areas. This role plays a key part in ensuring a positive and welcoming experience for guests by upholding high cleanliness standards throughout the property.
- Clean and disinfect all assigned public areas (lobby, corridors, elevators, restrooms, etc.)
- Empty trash receptacles and restock supplies (toilet paper, soap, paper towels)
- Vacuum carpets and clean hard floor surfaces.
- Clean glass surfaces, doors, mirrors, and walls.
- Dust furniture and decorative items in public spaces.
- Respond promptly to guest or staff requests related to cleanliness.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
- Secures and maintains custody of equipment, keys and supplies at all times in order to protect and preserve hotel property.
- Be able to perform and complete all tasks and duties on the shift in a timely and efficient manner.
- Always maintain proper etiquette in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner with guests and employees of all levels.
- All other duties as assigned, requested or deemed necessary by leadership.

Qualifications:
Education/Formal Training
No formal education or training.
Experience
- Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred
- Experience in a hotel or hospitality environment is a plus
Knowledge/Skills
- Must have basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal/written instructions and communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Attention to detail.
- Time management and task prioritization.
- Professionalism and guest service orientation.
- Ability to work independently.
Physical Demands

- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. continually throughout a shift.
- Must be able to push, pull and move levers, equipment and furniture throughout a shift.
- Must be able to work with arms raised above head throughout a shift.
- Must be able to maneuver fully loaded maid cart, weighing up to 50lbs., through hallways and into/out of closets during entire workday.
- Mobility -continuous movement throughout hotel. Continuous standing -90% of shift. Climbing stairs, approximately 100 steps 3% of 8 hours. Ladders -approximately 3 feet, 2% of 8 hour shift.
- No driving required.
