Company Description
Lore Health is a platform that uses everyday conversations to support everyday resilience. Through prompted exploration, people gain new insights and start to make small changes that make a big impact—not just on their health, but in their lives.
Role Description
Lore is seeking an exceptional Design System Engineer to own and evolve our unified brand language, from defining and versioning design tokens in Figma to building and testing React components that enforce those standards across web and mobile. You’ll partner closely with designers and developers to translate wireframes, user journeys, and mockups into reusable UI elements, automated linters, and CI checks that prevent brand drift. You’ll bring a user-centric mindset and strong opinions on typography, color, and layout to engage and delight users. This isn't a job for a production designer; we need someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is empowered to make decisions based on their expertise and design system experience. If you’re passionate about bridging the gap between design and code in a fast-paced startup, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Research, define, and version design system and specific tokens for typography, color, spacing, icons, and other core design variables consistent with Lore’s branding
- Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, user journeys, and mockups in Figma to communicate the design system
- Be a vocal thought partner by bringing a strong opinion and clarity around core elements of our offering and how they fit together
- Work with a Figma asset library to ensure brand consistency across all designs
- Implement and test React components that consume design tokens and ensure cross-browser/device compatibility
- Write and maintain automated linters or scripts that scan for deviations to the brand to make catching drift easier
- Collaborate with the design team, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure the best user experience
- Stay up-to-date with the latest UX/UI trends, techniques, and technologies
- Be a daily user of the Lore app to develop intuition for how it can change lives for our users
Requirements
- Training: Degree in user experience design, computer science, or related field
- Proven Experience: 3 years of UX/UI design experience, preferably in a fast-paced, iterative environment
- Visual Design Skills: Strong visual design skills with an eye for detail, including typography, color, and layout
- User-Centric Mindset: Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices like Google Material Design and Apple Human Interface Guidelines standards
- Prototyping and Wireframing: Proficiency with Figma (2 years experience preferred)
- Proficient in React (JSX/TSX), CSS-in-JS or CSS Modules, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript
- Familiar with GitHub and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Outlook, etc)
- Preferred: Hands-on experience building and publishing a shared UI library or design tokens package
