We are seeking a Housing Employment Specialist to join our Employment Services Team.  The candidate will work directly with clients under the direction of the Director of Employment Services.  Hours are generally from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily, however the start time and end time can be adjusted to meet the needs of the client.  This position will require regular travel between our housing programs.    


Some responsibilities of the job include: 

  • Staff will travel to all the TLP housing locations to provide required services to assist clients with becoming employed. Staff will maintain a daily calendar to outline scheduled appointments via Microsoft Outlook. 
  • Screen applicants for program eligibility, perform enrollment and/or intake. 
  • Utilize agency and funder database software as needed and required. 
  • Assist and coach clients with job searching, job placement, interview preparation, resume modification, and job retention strategies. 
  • Facilitate clients’ access to employment services in the community. 
  • Assist clients in completing all necessary paperwork for referral to Job Training and Transitional work experience programs. 
  • Enter agency and funder data as related to the number of job placements, coaching sessions, client interviews, and attendance in Job Readiness 1 on 1 session, and Transitional Work Experience Programs 
  • Actively recruit and enroll or intake clients into funder and agency programs. 
  • Develop strong working relationships with supportive housing program staff to enroll clients and provide regular updates on service participation. 
  • Assist, develop, and train in specific employment processes pertaining to agency and funder programs. 
  • Maintain client data entry by providing proof of eligibility and participation in agency and funder programs. Maintain data entry as required by agency and funder contracts. 
  • Build relationships with potential employers and assist in recruiting employers for clients served. 
  • Represent The Lord’s Place’s mission to potential employers including advocating for clients. 
  • Assist in providing engaging, interactive instruction for agency programs as needed and required. 
  • Assist Director of Employment Services in developing job retention and career growth-focused interventions (individual coaching and group sessions) for supportive housing clients who are currently employed. 
  • Attend weekly staffing conducted by the Director of Employment Services and the Employment Coordinator. 
  • Assist in the preparation of employment program materials and program delivery as needed and required. 
  • Attend workshops and seminars for professional growth and as approved by the Director of Employment Services. 
  • Conduct ZOOM and/or other digital media in setting up conference calls regarding job coaching, resume building, mock interviewing, digital readiness, and other related curriculum assisting clients in securing meaningful employment. 
  • Provide life coaching, job coaching and other case management as needed. 
  • Collaborate with the Advancement Department as it applies to gifts-in-kind and share client stories to aid the department with necessary information to share the impact of The Lord’s Place with our community. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Employment Services and the Employment Coordinator according to changing agency program requirements.

Requirements

 

Requirements for the position include:   

  • Associate degree in social services, counseling, education, or other relevant disciplines preferred. 
  • Experience connecting individuals with high barriers to jobs and career paths preferred. 
  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Requires excellent computer knowledge. 
  • Prior experience in job training and workforce development preferred. 
  • Requires travel to multiple work locations.   
  • Requires the ability to pass a DCF level 2 background screening.   

Salary : $47 - $50
